Super Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

In honor of National Chocolate Cookie Day today, I thought I would share my favorite cookie recipe with you! I found this little gem of a recipe on the back of a Crisco Jar long ago, and have tweaked it a little to my own taste. It's an easy recipe and the best part is how soft the cookies turn out. I love my cookies soft. I love to eat them right out of the oven with a nice cold glass of milk.

Super Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
3/4 cup Crisco Butter Flavor Shortening
2 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. While the oven is heating up, combine the brown sugar, shortening, milk, and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat until mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg.
Combine the flour, salt, and baking soda and then add to the sugar mixture. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheet about 3 inches apart. Bake for 8-9 minutes. Let cool on a cooling rack.
